Career Development
Career Development refers to the ongoing attention given to the development of the person and his or her career path, this includes but not limited to personal skills development, career path planning, personal talents or gifts defining new ways of achieving a very specific career goal.
WOW! What a mouthful. The entire paragraph above says that I’ll be assiting you in finding out who you are, what personality you have, how you fit into the world with your unique skils and talents and then decide on a career based on those skills and gifts and then plan how to reach the pinnacle, to make a difference and have a lasting positive impact in the world.
So who needs career development?
Anyone who feel that they have stagnated in their current position or a student who would like to plan ahead and map his or her career from the onset.
Being a Life Coach I will include various tools to make sure that the path that you’ll want to follow is in fact right for you. I spent more than 20 years doing what others said I’ll be good at, “good at” not great not exceptional, just “good at”. What a waste of a life!
I’m partnering with an excellent career counseller but also will help you determine who you are, what natural spiritual gifts you have to offer and in combination with your current habits (as determined by a Shadowmatch profile) will work with you to find that magical path to lifelong career success and fulfilment.
I do not take this lightly and thus you will get my full attention, I don’t care if you’re 16 or 60 I will commit fully to your needs as it’s close to my heart.
So where do we start?
With a simple self-assessment:
Who are you?
What are your skills?
What are your interests?
What do you like to do?
What are you really good at?
What have been your achievements so far?
What are your personal qualities?
How do others see you?
What transferable skills do you have?
Knowing who you are and what you have to offer is the first step to success. It will also give you the confidence to move forward swiftly when opportunities come knocking. It’s also the first line of defence when times get tough. I would recommend anyone over 14 to do the appropriate “Get a Life in 40 days” course.
We then move on to exploring your options:
Inside your existing organisation and outside.
Ways to increase your skills or experience.
Different occupations.
Further education and training.
Research trends in your chosen field.
Networking.
Types of employment.
Entrepreneurship.
Here all starts coming together in your individual career plan:
Map the possibilities.
Do a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.)
Consider the perceived threats and how to overcome them.
Cost and Benefit list for future reference
GPS (Goals Priorities and scheduling)
Action Plan to move forward.
Implement your plan.
Study further or train with the correct authority.
Hunt for hidden opportunities.
Network: Use social media, LinkedIn etc.
Decide what avenue of career search would be best.
Market yourself (CV, photo, Dress Code)
Learn how to write a good cover letter & address requirements.
Acquire good presentation and interview skills
There are a lot of variables depending on what you need to achieve. Fill in the contact form and we’ll take it from there.
